Five Solas Sermon Series

Sermons on the Five Solas

October 31, 2017 marks the 500th year anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his famous 95 Thesis to the Wittenburg Door. This sparked a great Reformation of the church, the effects of which can be seen in many ways even today. This Reformation had three catch phrases marked by the word "only" or "alone" (sola in Latin): Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone), Sola Gratia (Grace Alone), and Sola Fide (Faith Alone). Later, two other solas attached themselves as essential elements of the Reformation: Solus Christus (Christ Alone) and Soli Deo Gloria (To God Alone The Glory).

As a way to honor the theology of our foundational understanding of God through Scripture alone, the essential gospel that saves by grace alone, through faith alone, by/in Christ alone, and the ultimate end to which all things point in God's glory alone, we decided to take this great anniversary to remember again for a new generation what these doctrines are and why they are so foundational to the Church in any age.
